Today we had a juicy treat! We got to have some watermelon! We looked, touched smelt and ate the watermelon and then wrote about our experience. YUM!

V is for Volcano

When our letter of the week was 'V', we created a volcano! It was so exciting seeing the lava erupt. We then wrote about what we experienced.

I is for icecream

When our letter of the week was 'I', we read a big book all about different flavourite icecreams. We then created a pictogram on our favourite flavours in the class.

Our whanau tree is starting to grow leaves! Each leaf represents one child in our class and their family.

Beach Clean up

We had a fun time at beach clean up. Even though we couldn't swim, we searched for rubbish, played some games and had a sausage sizzle. We were happy there wasn't very much rubbish!

I is for Insect

Our letter of the week this week is I.
One of the activities this week is looking closely at insects with our magnifying glass and drawing what we see. Simon bought in a caterpillar which is now in a chrysalis, which we have been watching very carefully.
Our observational drawings are so much fun! We love doing activities that involve insects and science!

SUPER ME!

Our inquiry topic this term is 'Being a SUPER ME!'.

We are focusing on being 'super' in classroom and in the playground. We all have different super powers that make us unique and special.

This morning, 4 superheros came flying through our classroom!
They were...
- Terrific Thais, who is super at counting!
- Unique Ulla, who is super at reading and learning her alphabet!
- Helpful Helen, who is super at sounding out letters in her writing!
- Lovely Louise, who is super caring and looks after animals!

It was so exciting when the 'Super Teachers' came flying through our classroom to share about their super powers.

We are learning about what makes us 'super' too!
